SNCR Fellows’ News and Updates
The Society for New Communications Research Fellowship is a year-long, volunteer-based program. SNCR issues a call for applications once a year in December. Applicants who are selected collaborate with the other SNCR Fellows on original research and educational programs. The fellowship program is highly competitive. A maximum of 12 new Fellows are accepted each year.
The Society’s Fellows include a leading group of futurists, scholars, business leaders, professional communicators, members of the media and technologists from around the globe – all collaborating together on research initiatives, educational offerings and the establishment of best practices.
Our Fellows stay engaged not only with SNCR, but also offer their expertise to other groups in the form of speaking engagements, published articles and/or books, and a variety of other ways.

The invitation stemmed from a presentation they made to the National Association of Science Writers last fall about how the UC Davis communications department is using social media to reach out to new audiences.
DANNY O. SNOW
Senior Fellow Danny O. Snow presented a SNCR paper at the annual conference of the Midwest Independent Publishers Association in Minneapolis on August 15.
Danny is currently working with the board of directors of the national organization to secure representation for independent publishers with the Book Rights Registry, as part of the much-publicized settlement regarding Google Book Search’s upcoming release of millions of books online.
Smashwords.com has re-released Danny’s 2002 collection titled Steal this e-Book! (an irreverent look at the ‘prehistoric’ days of e-publishing) as a free download for the Kindle, iPhone, Sony e-Reader, etc.
